Beneficial Essential Oils for Fall and Winter

Spice and citrus are some of the best essential oils to use during the season of fall. The weather is getting colder, darker and shorter. Spice and citrus scents are comforting; almost as comforting as warm apple pie.

Aromatherapy and essential oils are a great way to boost your immunity and help with the symptoms of colds, coughs and flus.

Cinnamon, Clove, Nutmeg and Cardamom oils are all comforting, warming and energizing. We recommend you use these oils with a diffuser or by diluting them with a carrier oil (such as grape seed, almond or jojoba carrier ). It is not suggested to put spice oils directly on the skin, as the oils are very concentrated and may irritate some skin types.

Mix some spice and citrus oils together; they work well together.Orange works particularly well with Cinnamon, Clove and Nutmeg oils.

Sandalwood and Frankincense are also earthy oils that are suited to the Fall Season. Blending them with citrus oils also works well.

If you are feeling cold, achy and tired, you would do well with ginger essential oil. Pure Essential Oils also helps with nausea.

Try putting a few drops into hot water and put a towel over your head and the bowl of hot water and breathe in deep breaths. This will help with chest congestion. It is also beneficial to release mucus. Make sure you have a tissue handy.

Fall and Winter also bring on seasonal blues (or depression). Do you need some cheering up on these dark and cold mornings? Need some motivation to get you out of bed? Do you want to throw the covers over your head and go back to bed?

Try adding a few drops of Orange, Bergamot and Lemon into your diffuser. These oils are known for mood boosting and energizing properties.

We also recommend Pink Grapefruit essential oil. It too is mood boosting and energizing; as well as having weight loss properties.

Try adding some Rosemary oil to your Tea Tree oil for a great cold and flu remedy.

These oils are safe for children, however, we do recommend that the oils are diluted prior to application or used with a diffuser. Remember to always ask your doctor is you unsure about the safety of any essential oil. These oils are extremely concentrated and pure. A little goes a long way.
